Sweet potatoes, they’re an amazing complex carbohydrate that are versatile, tasty and inexpensive.

They’re all natural, high in vitamin B6, C, D, and iron AND they also help to support a healthy immune system.
Being a complex carbohydrate their natural sugars are released slowly into the bloodstream enabling you to have more energy on a day to day basis and be more successful in your weight loss journey, as opposed to simple carbohydrates like pasta and bread which give you a quick spike in sugars leaving you with a miserable comedown and a few extra inches on the thighs.
How do I cook them?
They are quite possibly the easiest food in the world to cook; you can boil them, microwave them, fry them, bake them, mash them, anything!!
My personal favourite is sweet potato chips:
- Wash your sweet potato and cut into chips as pictured above, peeling is optional.
- Place in a large bowl, season evenly & shake around for a decent coating.
- Place on a baking tray and bake on a medium heat for 10-20 minutes, check them regularly.
What do I season them with?
You don’t have to season sweet potato, it tastes amazing on its own but if you want to add a bit more flavour then here are some ideas:
Smoked Paprika & Cumin
Pink Salt & Black Pepper
Cayenne Pepper & Chilli Flakes
Chilli Flakes & Garlic
Coriander & Cumin
Garlic & Rosemary
Let me know if you have any other ideas, sharing is caring!
ENJOY
